Intermountain Rigging and Heavyhaul has been a trusted partner of the food and beverage industry for decades. So when a large food production corporation in Ogden, UT needed skilled support to unload, assemble, and install a variety pack line, bulk loading system, and palletizer system in their new suite, IRH’s machinery moving division was the clear choice.

Diligent and flexible heavy equipment movers

While IRH frequently works with the food and beverage industry, this project presented some unique challenges. In the course of the equipment move, the team faced scheduling disruptions, a total of nine change orders, and fluctuating staffing demands, as well as complexities due to working in a partially operational facility.

As always, the IRH team expertly navigated every hurdle, staying flexible, proactive, and using their technical expertise to maintain production continuity and deliver on every project goal.

Machinery Movers With Precision

To begin the production line installation project, the IRH crew first measured and planned a precise layout for the new equipment. In doing so, the crew identified inaccurate measurements in the construction plans. Thankfully, the IRH team caught the discrepancy, and were able to rectify the miscalculations and avoid any costly mistakes.

The crew then moved the equipment into the new suite, positioning, assembling, and fitting each piece with precise coordination. Once assembled, the crew made important quality checks to ensure each machine was adjusted and accurately aligned before anchoring them down.

Complex Machinery Moving Made Seamless

While the scope of this project initially focused on rigging support for the new line installation, the project expanded as the customer’s needs evolved. The IRH team adapted skillfully and seamlessly handled the following challenges and changes:

  • Scaling from 3-14 crew members to meet demand
  • Addressing and completing additional tasks
  • Executing a total of nine change orders—delivering six of them under budget
  • Navigating scheduling challenges due to portions of the facility remaining operational during construction

Heavy Equipment Movers That Put Safety First

Throughout the course of this project, the IRH team’s commitment to safety stood out, particularly during the installation of a large agitator. A plan for installing the agitator was proposed to the IRH team; but after reviewing the plan, they quickly recognized it as risky to both equipment and personnel.

As an alternative, the team innovated a safer and more controlled method of installation. The customer deferred to IRH’s expertise and recommendation, and the agitator was successfully installed without incident.

Your Go-To Heavy Equipment Movers

The IRH machinery moving team proved to be a reliable and flexible partner throughout the production line expansion project. The customer was extremely pleased with the work the team provided and has entrusted them with follow-up work, as well, saying:

“The IRH crew was fantastic. They worked efficiently, were transparent about the timeline, and collaborated well with the other contractors whenever a favor was asked.”
